WBRC - What it is and what we do

Wells Beach Resort is a beautiful RV park in Wells, Maine about 25 miles from the New Hampshire border. There are 250 meticulously groomed sites from 70’ long drive thru’s to accommodate 45’ motor homes and “toads” to tent sites some “primitive” (no water/electricity on site) and others with water, power, sewer, cable, and wifi. The sites are level and include fire pits and picnic tables with the Premium sites sporting an astroturf carpet on the door side of the coach.

There is also a swimming pool in the shape of a mouse....the Mickey kind and a beautiful mini golf course with flower lined paths and water falls as well as 2 playgrounds, basketball court, bocci ball and shuffleboard. The grounds are maintained constantly with contracted lawn and bush cutting service and a full time person devoted to maintaining the landscaping. It’s rated as # 29th RV park in the country by Woodall, the RV park experts...we have heard they review around 8,000 campgrounds.

Our days range from 4 to 7.5 hours in a 5 day work week. Maureen works in the office. Her primary tasks include taking reservations and welcoming new guests. She also helps look after the small store and gets to run mini golf once in a while.

George has a full slate of glamorous tasks. These include:
  • Grooming sites
  • Security duty
    • - greeting & validating customers
    • - greeting & validating visitors - ensuring rules are being observed
    • - ensuring rules are being observed - miscellaneous resort maintenance
  • Night check of restrooms
  • Restroom, laundry room cleaning

The schedule has not been consistent and with few scheduled consecutive days off. (More about that later.) We do take advantage of our off days but it’s a challenge to be too creative.

We’re working with a fine group of people at a real high-end RV resort. As yet, the crowds haven’t really started arriving. The Memorial Day weekend will be a good dry run but sounds like it pales in comparison to the summer season as a whole which starts on June 18th

To be honest with you, we are taking advantage of the awesome seafood available wherever we turn. We have really enjoyed clam rolls, clam chowdah and have tried and enjoyed several lobster dishes with Lobster Pie from the renowned Maine Diner reaching the top. The fish and chips ranks way up there as well. There are so many highly recommended restaurants within 2 miles that it’s a bit challenging to eat in the RV.
